Life’s Lemons -> Lemon Cheesecake.

On Inspiration: When life hands you lemons… Something happened to me recently, nothing big, just a small blip of life that has brought about an evaluation of my goals and the path I’m on. And I am reminded of one of my favorite scenes from Apollo 13. In the scene “Getting Home,” Astronaut Jim Lovell explains another moment in his life when the chance of success, survival even, looked bleak, and a seeming negative turned out to be a positive.
To me, it’s a metaphor for life that, when you remove the specific details, becomes a template for finding your way in life’s toughest moments…
“A moment of fear…
Zap- everything shorts out…
Leading me away from where I’m supposed to be…
Running out of fuel…
Thinking about ditching…
Look down in the darkness…
A trail laid out right beneath me…leading me home…”
“You never know what events are going to transpire to get you home.”
Have you had an event, or met someone in your life that changed the trajectory you were on for the better? A new voice can open your eyes to new options. Sometimes failure helps you see a different possibility. Tragedy can sometimes bring clarity. It can help you decide what you hold dear and reevaluate where you want to invest your time and effort. When something happens to reinforce the limited number of days on this planet, it can inspire you to reach higher and to risk instead of playing it safe. Scary? Yup. But, there is also a freedom in this reevaluation, as if I cut off sandbags that tied me down and held me in place. So, it’s exciting, plus…I love lemon cheesecake 😉
