Planning to do less of this in 2016, both me and Harley…
“Chasing your tail” is defined as “to be busy doing a lot of things but achieving very little.” Like getting lost down a research rabbit hole when I should be writing. Or wasting time fighting where the plot wants to go or trying too hard to make the first draft pretty. Pffft. This year, I’m focusing on getting the first ugly draft down–then revise the heck out of it. I don’t know why I fight this one, because I am actually pretty kick-ass at revising.
Also, this: “I’m going to give you a little advice. There’s a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball. Just be the ball, be the ball, be the ball. You’re not being the ball, Danny.” Ty Webb from Caddyshack
Yup, I’m going to get out of my own way. Less self-doubt. More confidence, focused work and letting things happen.
