I’ve Got My Writing Blinders On

Totally Not Looking at Shiny Objects: I’m plotting a new contemporary romance. I am not listening (sticks fingers in ears) or peeking at that new shiny fun, distracting idea of a Space Opera. No. No I’m not. Heck. I didn’t even know what a “Space Opera” was until I watched Guardians of the Galaxy over the weekend. And loved every second of it. So then of course I had to research it. And come to find out…it’s a space opera. So is Star Wars, by the way. Who knew? Okay, fine, probably everybody but me.

Focus, Lee. Focus. Okay, I did figure out something important about my Hero when I was in that fuzzy space between sleep and talking myself into getting out of bed to make coffee. Something surprising that I wouldn’t have figured on, but I’m going to run with it and see what happens. So today, I’m finishing plot points and meeting my daily writing goal. Focused like a laser beam on my new WIP.

Even if I am humming the opening song from Guardians of the Galaxy under my breath.
